At the moment I still have a few areas of interest for my lines of inquiry. I would be interested if anyone has any feedback and discussion points that I consider whilst I'm at the researching stage of developing my lines of inquiry-
1- What effects does a teachers health and well being have on their pupils learning
2- What teaching style is the best approach for the learning of children? i.e. strict or friendly
3- What are the benefits of the use of movement and music in a classroom on a child's learning.
4- How can the incorporation of the arts/dance movement therapy help children with special educational needs
Inquiry 1 - i think this could be something good to go deeper into. There is so much focus on the child's wellbeing, before we even begin to try and teach our students we check their basic daily needs are met and their emotional behaviour is ok. So, why isn't it the same for the teachers?? if we don't deem the children ready to learn, perhaps the teacher isn't ready to teach?
ReplyDeleteInquiry 3 and 4- I feel quite strongly about this subject, even more so now, witnessing children in a classroom environment, both in mainstream and specialist support schools. You could go down so many different avenues with this and would be beneficial to your practice.
I think inquiry three would be very interesting to look further into. There has been proof of music and movement helping all students at many different ages. It is something that also children with learning difficulties or behavioral problems can turn to in order to feel good about themselves. I think it's very interesting to see the benefits of movement and music not just for any child but also the ones who have had some difficulties. I think it is something that not only helps children but also adults and it would be very interesting to see more about it and learn about why it benefits the people.

This is the point I am at right now too - I know roughly what subject I want to convert on, but not which specific area
ReplyDeleteThese are all very valid points of inquiry you have made. I see that you and me both have similar interests. As Kirsty said inquiry 3 would be very interesting as this also could link in with inquiry 4.
